TAMIU’s student newspaper is under new leadership. Dr. Daniel De la Miyar began his role as the organization’s coordinator at the beginning of this Spring 2016 school semester. Along with directing The Bridge’s participation to the university, De la Miyar hopes to build a diverse staff of creative student journalists and contributors who will provide the campus and city of Laredo with an enriched form of news content. In fact, she encouraged my random and brass behavior. Still she did so under one condition, respect others and yourself. As funny a combination as it may sound --- a young kid doing as he pleases yet respecting his elders ---I assure you it was true. Respect is a value my mother preached in the house hold. Still as expected this combination resulted with some hiccups, but my mother kept at it. By Iris Vasquez Guerrero Resigning from my job of three years was not easy, but neither are most major life decisions.  I gave up my full time position in order to return to school and finally finish my bachelor’s degree.  My college career originally began when I was an eighteen-year-old know-it-all that desperately wanted to leave Laredo.  I was accepted to Texas A&M-Kingsville, and I made all the usual mistakes that a new student makes.  Long story short, I completed four years at TAMUK, but received no degree.  I was also about two years away from graduation. Many small businesses booming from left to right and many apartments being built all over the city. Since the city is growing with the population it is also important that our society has a higher education school.
