Welcome back, Dustdevils: Help us write TAMIU’s next chapter
From Staff Reports

Welcome back to a brand-new semester at Texas A&M International University. As the campus buzzes with fresh energy, The Bridge is ready to document the stories, triumphs and challenges of our Dustdevil community.
This semester, despite being the 30th anniversary of The Bridge student media, we are operating a lean, dedicated editorial team. Our current newsroom features a talented Editor-in-Chief Kaily Olivo (who doubles as our print design chief and social media manager), Managing Editor Sean Jimenez, Assistant Editor Cynthia Torres, two reporters, and an independent staff photographer working alongside our Managing Editor/Director of Photography.
We operate strictly as a teaching newsroom, providing a conflict-free space where any student can learn the ropes of fair, ethical reporting. You do not need prior experience—just an unbiased perspective and a curiosity about our campus. We are explicitly looking for a new Sports Editor to take ownership of our Dustdevils athletics coverage, as well as freelance writers, video creators, podcasters and other digital storytellers.
You may notice a change in how you read us this fall. Our physical print edition is currently on hiatus after our local printing press shut down its regional operations. While we navigate printing alternatives that protect our editorial independence, The Bridge is temporarily focusing as an online-first platform.
You can find our latest reporting, multimedia embeds and updates right here on our official website. We are also consolidating our digital footprint to meet you where you are. Tune into our multimedia projects on YouTube, check out our student audio archives on Spotify, and follow our most active daily coverage on Instagram @thebridgestudentnews.
This is your campus voice. If you want to build a portfolio, cover TAMIU sports, or tell the stories of Laredo, your place is with us.
Interested students can reach out directly to thebridgenews.tamiu@gmail.com or email faculty adviser Thomas Brown ( thomas.brown at TAMIU.edu ) to join our team. Our weekly meetings take place from 2-3:30 p.m. Fridays during the regular semesters in Pellegrino Hall 220. Our production nights are most Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Fall 2026 semester.
