OPINION: International mission on display with Holi event

OPINION: International mission on display with Holi event By Juan Antonio Molina Jr.Bridge Staff WriterPublished Tuesday, March 31, 2026 As a campus freshman, I’m constantly looking for fun events to attend. From the Spring 2026 cultural events like Lunar New Year to the Fall 2025 school-spirit events like Maroon Madness, there are several notables. Being involved in the community, alongside my fellow students, is important to me. This is why when I heard of the Holi event on campus, I made sure to check my schedule and invited friends to attend. As a history major, I was naturally interested in the meaning of Holi but I wanted to see for myself and form my own perspective of the festival before relying on a quick internet search for my information. Opinion: Raving can serve as self-care

Opinion: Raving can serve as self-care  By Sean JimenezAssociate EditorPublished Tuesday, March 31, 2026 When asked about my weekend plans, my usual response is, “I’m going to a rave.”  Some people look down on this as me being irresponsible and partying often, but I view raving as an underappreciated form of self-care. Raves offer a unique experience unlike any other. Electronic music genres range from French tech, hardstyle, hardcore and much more, but the unifying theme is fast-paced heavy beats that encourage ravers to dance. Sean Jimenez If you’re not moving, you’re not raving; this constant movement works as great exercise, a dopamine boost and a stress reliever. Most smaller raves last  three or four hours, not taking into account several day-long EDM festival...

FEATURE: Looking back on 30 years of ‘The Bridge’

FEATURE: Looking back on 30 years of ‘The Bridge’  By Kaily OlivoEditor-in-chiefPublished Thursday March 26, 2026 “The Bridge” made its debut in March 1996 at Texas A&M International University, and continues to live on, reaching a 30-year milestone this March 2026. In recognition of some of the top stories across the past 30 years, “The Bridge” would like to go back to the first two stories on the front page of the March 1996 issue: “Women’s studies program to be inaugurated at TAMIU,” by one of the first Bridge reporters, Sarah Collins, and “Hopefuls to visit campus as search for president continues,” by 1996 Editor-in-chief Carlos A. Guardiola. Collins’ story kicked off Bridge reporting with the introduction of a women’s studies program, an upper-division course and...

OPINION: Laredo offers hidden gems

OPINION: Laredo offers hidden gems  By Kaily OlivoEditor-in-chiefPublished Wednesday, March 25, 2026 To me, all Laredo offered were small, local restaurants; that’s what made Laredo feel so different, like no one else featured the food we have. Besides that, it felt as if Laredo had nothing unique. Like there were no activities. Yes, Laredo is unique, considering it’s a border city, and has a rich history, but it’s a matter of: What can I do in Laredo besides eat? Kaily Olivo At first, there’s numerous things that came to my mind, such as walking in the parks, fishing at Lake Casa Blanca, and going to the annual Jalapeño Festival. I was just trying to see what’s out there, and that’s where it began. I started to really look into non-profit organizations, societies, c...

SPORTS: Softball bounces back with two wins after prior loss  By Dilean MendezBridge Staff InternPublished Tuesday, March 24, 2026 After a tough loss earlier this month, the Texas A&M International softball team bounced back with a strong showing, sweeping UT Dallas in a doubleheader on March 15. The Dustdevils fell 6–2 to No. 13 Oklahoma Christian on March 6, where an early 4-run second inning put them behind. Although the team showed effort late in the game, including a two-RBI single from freshman first baseman Isabella De Los Santos in the seventh inning, they were unable to close the gap. OPINION: MUSIC REVIEW: Xdinary Heroes best K-rock band

OPINION: MUSIC REVIEW: Xdinary Heroes best K-rock band By Anissia MorenoBridge Staff InternPublished Wednesday, March 18, 2026 K-pop, a varied genre that began in South Korea, has expanded well beyond simple pop music. In the last decade, it transformed from a niche interest into a powerful cultural movement, thanks to artists like BTS, Blackpink, Twice, Stray Kids and Ateez. Even movies are getting involved, shown by the recent release of K-pop Demon Hunters. However, beneath the famous idols and major productions, there is a vibrant rock scene that often gets overlooked. One notable band is Xdinary Heroes, a six-member group that has built a loyal fan base since its debut in 2021.
