Upholding tradition, Spirit Week returned to campus with a superhero theme, encouraging students to be “super at TAMIU.” This past week, Feb. 2 to 7, the Office of Student Orientation, Leadership, and Engagement, the Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board, TAMIU athletics and the Division of Student Engagement worked together to bring these events to life at Texas A&M International University.
SGA Director of Finance and Chancellor Student Advisory Council Representative Santiago Garcia Rosales said Spirit Week’s purpose is to bring everyone together as a community and share more of TAMIU’s culture.

Nathalie Moreno and Armando Aguilar participate in TAMIU Spirit Week’s Late Nights With A SOLEmate in the Student Center Rotunda on Feb. 5, 2026.
“We’re doing all these events for students on campus, but at the same time we’re recruiting them in order to join us and keep building a tradition and culture of warmth, family and that’s at the end of the day what TAMIU is,” Rosales said.
The daily events included: Maroon Monday with compliance kick off and SGA Cart Parade, Tuesday’s Twin Day with Taco Tuesday and Consent CAB, Wednesday’s wear caps, masks and face paint day, Coffeehouse Wednesday and Hero vs. Villain Pep Rally, Thursday’s wear a superhero shirt day, Green Dot training, super up with CAB to make your own cape, women’s basketball game and Late Nights with SOLEmate and Saturday’s SOLE Summit and men’s and women’s basketball games.
Each event presented students with an opportunity to set their responsibilities aside and spend time with others.
“That’s what Spirit Week is, at the end of the day,” Rosales said. “Just fulfilling all the traditions here at TAMIU and joining together as a community.”
SOLE member Nathalie Moreno said she considers Spirit Week one of TAMIU’s better weeks for events.
“I would say that I’ve had a relatively stressful week, so being able to sit down and just decompress by making a little painting with my friends has been pretty good,” Moreno reflected.
Spirit Week was a time when students bonded, despite not knowing one another before.
“I think it really does help bring the students together as a community and just showcase our pride for TAMIU,” Moreno said.
